Metro Manila stays below GCQ in February

MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila will spend yet one more month below basic group quarantine, Malacañang introduced Friday.

In the meantime, the provinces of Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mountain Province, and the town of Baguio, that are all at the moment below modified GCQ, will revert to GCQ from February 1 to February 28. 

Twelve instances of the brand new and probably extra infectious coronavirus variant have been recorded in Mountain Province, and yet another case has been reported in Benguet.

Batangas, Tacloban Metropolis, Davao Metropolis, Davao del Norte, Lanao del Sur and Iligan Metropolis may even stay below GCQ for the entire month of February.

The remainder of the nation stays below MGCQ, the least restrictive of all quarantine classifications.

The Philippines has reported practically 520,000 instances of COVID-19, with practically 11,000 deaths. It has the second-worst outbreak of the coronavirus in Southeast Asia, following Indonesia. — Xave Gregorio
